Concerned about your child's worries?
Is your child anxious, sad, or angry? Are you thinking that your child should "be over this by now" or is reacting way out of the norm? Children have many worries and fears. Some of these come from traumatic experiences. Others come from what adults might call minor annoyances or setbacks. Because children are not little adults, they sometimes aren't able to process and recover from life events as an adult might. Therapy could help your child cope with his/her experiences and lead a healthier, more successful life.
I use EMDR with children, teens, and adults. When working with children and families, I also incorporate play therapy to fully resolve the presented issues. As well, I use a variety of other techniques that fit each client’s unique needs.
I have worked with abused and traumatized children and their families since 1995 and continue to provide great support and healing to children as young as 2 years old through the teen years. Some of the issues I am competent in addressing for both children, and adults who experienced these issues as children include:
• child victims of abuse and neglect
• child witnesses to domestic violence
• separation and loss
• foster care issues
• self-esteem
• anger management
• anxiety
• behavioral/emotional concerns
• parenting and parent-child relational issues
• divorce and separation
I emphasize that I also work with parents and individual adults around these same issues or other experiences and symptoms that make daily living difficult or less fulfilling than it could be.
